Bringing His Vision to Life – 2019 MLK Day of Service

The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. federal holiday is a perfect opportunity for Americans to honor Dr. King’s legacy through service. The MLK Day of Service empowers individuals, strengthens communities, bridges barriers, creates solutions to social problems, and moves us closer to Dr. King’s vision of a beloved community. We are proud to participate in this national day of service known as a “day on, not a day off.” On Monday, January 21, we will host our 37th Annual MLK Day of Service with the theme of “Bringing His Vision to Life.”

Attendees will have the opportunity to honor the work and life of Dr. King through volunteer service projects with various organizations throughout York. Volunteers are encouraged to pre-register here to ensure they can participate in their preferred project. The full list of volunteer opportunities can be found here.

Our 37th Annual MLK Day of Service will start with a program and breakfast. The program will feature entertainment from local artists. Crispus Attucks will also recognize four York City youth who continue Dr. King’s legacy by demonstrating service and responsibility with the Living the Dream award.

The Living the Dream awardees include:

Destinee Burgos, Selmary Colon-Alvarado, Silmary Colon-Alvarado, and Amiia Martin.
