Country Club of York’s Executive Chef Gregory Mummert presented a culinary demonstration for our Rising STARS participants. Our youth were entertained by Chef Mummert and his assistant as they showed off some “tricks of the trade” preparing Strawberry Glaze Tarts.
Our youth were able to get a “taste” of day-to-day experiences of culinary art professional and sample some results. They were inspired by Chef Mummert’s humble beginning. He graduated from William Penn Senior High School in York. While in school, he started working at the Country Club of York as a dishwasher 35 years ago. After many years of hard work and dedication, he progressed to Sous Chef in 1992 and later Executive Chef in 2006. He was a 2017 Iron Chef Competitor.
The Rising STARS program recently partnered with the Country Club of York to provide youth the opportunity to explore potential careers in culinary arts, as well as etiquette classes and golf instructional courses at the Country Club of York.
