Communications and Development Intern

Description:
Crispus Attucks is a nonprofit who has served York County for more than 80 years. Crispus Attucks continues to be the Heart of Change in York County by improving lives through our valuable programs. Interns will have an opportunity to deepen Crispus Attucks’ impact on the community through grants and fundraising events as well as connect the community to Crispus Attucks’ mission. This is an unpaid internship. Our internship is a unique opportunity to work on valuable, real-world projects. The experience you will gain is useful leverage toward starting your career and helps better our community, as well.

Responsibilities:
The intern would start in September, January, or June depending on semester, and work a minimum of ten hours/week. Interns will assist the development department with identifying grants for various programs, writing grant proposal drafts, researching data required for proposals, interviewing clients and staff for newsletter articles, writing newsletter articles, writing/preparing e-newsletters for sending to supporters, gathering social media content, scheduling social media posts, and assisting with planning of special events.

Requirements:
-Creative approaches to problem solving,
-Ability to work independently and with a team,
-Interest/experience in the general areas of public relations,
-Ability to multi-task, strong organizational, writing, and communication skills
-Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.),Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
-Working knowledge of Hootsuite and WordPress a plus

Marketing and Special Events Intern

Description:
We are celebrating 85 years of service to York County and have several events planned to engage the community to recognize this milestone. This internship offers an opportunity to actively plan, shape, and execute creative events and develop marketing, writing, and public relations experience.

Responsibilities:
-Public Relations through traditional formats and social media,
-create buzz promotions,
-promote partnerships with local and regional organizations,
-coordinate logistics of planning: event details, set-up, vendor coordination, event registration

Requirements:
-Creative approaches to problem solving, -Ability to work independently and with a team, -Interest/experience in the general areas of public relations, -Ability to multi-task, strong organizational, writing, and communication skills -Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.), Facebook, Twitter, Instagram -Working knowledge of operational knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) basic Web tools, Hootsuite and WordPress a plus

Social Media/Marketing & PR Intern

Description:
This internship gives you the opportunity to work with a local not-for-profit organization in the planning and implementation of a community event, Wingstock, at PeoplesBank Park in York. Position includes many aspects of Marketing, PR, and Communications; such as crafting the correct message for a target audience, writing internal/external communications, press releases, brochure and ad design, event management, and other business development activities. The intern would start in September, January, or June and work a minimum of ten hours/week, this is an unpaid internship. Our internship is a unique opportunity to work on valuable, real-world projects. The experience you will gain is useful leverage toward starting your career and helps better our community, as well.

Responsibilities:
Attend monthly planning meetings and provide progress reports, assist in brochure design and ad design for all print media, write press releases and coordinate with media, work with committees to promote individual events, generate volunteers for event, perform other activities as appropriate.
