Celebrating Women’s History Month at CAY!
ππΈ Celebrating Women’s History Month with CAY! πΈπ
Throughout the month of March, we at CAY are proud to honor and celebrate the contributions, achievements, and resilience of historic CAY women and women around the world. Women’s History Month is a time to recognize the remarkable impact that women have had on society, culture, science, technology, politics, and every aspect of our lives.
We celebrate the trailblazing women like our very own:
Mrs. Mildred Chapman – 1953-1963 Served as the Director of the CA Women’s and Girls Department. She was a licensed Pharmacist.
Mrs. Helen Thackston – 1932-1964 Β For three decades, Mrs. Thackston directed York’s first preschool program for black children. For the first 12 years she worked without pay.
Mrs. Marjorie Dean – 1963- 1967 Executive Director who challenged CA to aim to help each individual regardless of race.
(Their contributions to our Community are extensive and will be featured in our CAY History and Culture Center!)
Women who have shattered glass ceilings, challenged norms, and paved the way for future generations. From scientists and engineers to artists and activists, women have played a vital role in shaping our world and driving progress forward.
This month, we encourage everyone to learn about the incredible women who have made history, to celebrate the women in our lives who inspire us, and to continue advocating for gender equality and empowerment. Together, we can create a more inclusive and equitable world where all women have the opportunity to thrive and succeed.
Join us at CAY as we celebrate Women’s History Month and honor the achievements and contributions of women everywhere. Let’s lift each other up, support one another, and work towards a brighter future for all. Here’s to strong women: may we know them, may we be them, may we raise them! πͺπΊ #WomensHistoryMonth #EmpowerWomen #CelebrateWomen
