Starting the 2025–2026 School Year Off Right at Crispus Attucks Charter School
The first weeks of the new school year are always full of excitement, curiosity, and fresh opportunities. At Crispus Attucks Charter School, we believe in starting strong—by challenging our students, connecting them with the community, and giving them hands-on experiences that build both skills and confidence.
This year, the 2025–2026 school year is already off to an inspiring start with projects and partnerships that highlight the creativity, resilience, and potential of our students.
The Egg Drop Project with Mr. Hoke 🥚🚀

One of the most anticipated traditions at Crispus Attucks Charter School is the Egg Drop Project, led by science teacher Mr. Hoke. Students are tasked with engineering a protective device that can keep an egg safe when dropped from a significant height.

This activity isn’t just fun—it teaches real-world lessons in physics, design, teamwork, and problem-solving. Watching students experiment with parachutes, cushioned containers, and creative reinforcements is a highlight of the fall semester. And the joy on their faces when their eggs survive the drop is priceless!

The Egg Drop has become a way to encourage students to think outside the box while learning that failure is just part of the path toward innovation.
YouthBuild Charter School Worksites: Serving the Community 🛠️🏙️

Our commitment to education extends far beyond the classroom. Through our partnership with YouthBuild Charter School, students are actively gaining experience at worksites across the York community.

These opportunities give students the chance to learn valuable career skills while making a tangible difference in their neighborhoods. Whether it’s rehabilitating homes, improving community spaces, or learning skilled trades, YouthBuild projects are teaching responsibility, discipline, and the importance of giving back.
Students walk away with not only technical knowledge but also a stronger sense of pride in their community and their role in shaping it for the better.
How AmeriCorps Cuts Affect Crispus Attucks Charter School
In April 2025, the sudden termination of more than 1,000 AmeriCorps grant programs created a shockwave across the nation. At Crispus Attucks Charter School, the impact was immediate and deeply felt. AmeriCorps support had been a critical part of several initiatives that connected students with mentors, tutors, and service-based learning opportunities.
This school year, we are proud to carry forward the Crispus Attucks York legacy of education, empowerment, and service. We can’t wait to share more stories as our students continue to grow, learn, and achieve throughout 2025–2026.
CA All Day! 💙💛
