Crispus Attucks York Celebrates 95th Annual Meeting and Anniversary of Serving our Community
On Sunday, March 15, 2026, Crispus Attucks York welcomed community leaders, partners, staff, and supporters to its 95th Annual Meeting & Celebration, marking nearly a century of impact, resilience, and community transformation.
Held at the Crispus Attucks York community center, the event reflected on a powerful legacy while casting a bold vision for the future—grounded in the organization’s enduring principle: “WE, NOT I.”
The program began with welcome and introductory remarks from Mrs. Jacquie Martino-Miller, CEO of CA Youth Build Charter School, who set the tone for an afternoon centered on reflection, unity, and progress. Attendees then joined together for the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a moving rendition of “America the Beautiful.”

“a legacy, a movement, and a community that has stood strong for nearly a century.”

Her message reinforced the organization’s ongoing commitment to building the future together—not waiting for it.
Organizational Board President Vernon Bracey led the official meeting proceedings, including approval of prior minutes and recognition of community leaders, elected officials, staff, and board members in attendance.
Treasurer George Dotzel provided a comprehensive financial report, highlighting strong financial standing despite ongoing economic challenges such as rising costs and funding pressures.
CAY CEO Robert “Bobby” Simpson reflected on the organization’s resilience, noting that throughout its history, Crispus Attucks York has consistently overcome challenges through strong leadership, community support, and an unwavering belief in its mission.
“We have always faced challenges—but we have met them with courage, planning, and unity.”
Strategic Planning: Building the Future
A major highlight of the event was the Strategic Planning Report, led by Board President Vernon Bracey and CAY Board Member Kristen Heisey, Strategic Planning Chairwoman, who served as the keynote voice for this portion of the program.
Heisey outlined a comprehensive roadmap for the future of Crispus Attucks York, emphasizing that the organization is in a “pivotal season” as it prepares for the next generation of leadership, growth, and impact.
She shared that the strategic planning process—launched in July 2025—focuses on:
Strengthening financial sustainability
Expanding fundraising and donor engagement
Preparing for leadership succession
Leveraging assets, including the soon-to-open History and Culture Center
Enhancing operational efficiency and impact
Heisey also captured the essence of CAY in a powerful statement:
“We are about empowering individuals and transforming our community.”
Her remarks made clear that while challenges exist, the opportunities ahead are even greater—and the future of CAY is being built with intention, strategy, and community input.
