Summary:
Instructs children in developmentally appropriate activities designed to promote

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Plan individual and group activities to stimulate growth in
language, social, and motor skills such as learning to listen to
instructions, playing with others, and using play equipment in
accordance with the policies and the philosophy of Early
Learning Center. Use developmentally appropriate practices
consistent with the expectations of NAEYC and designed to
meet the children's assessed needs.

- Maintain lesson plans aligned with center curriculum.
- Conduct a daily health check of each child on arrival.
- Instruct children in practices of personal cleanliness and self-care.
- Alternate periods of strenuous activity with periods of rest or
light activity to avoid over-stimulation and fatigue.
- Help children develop habits of caring for own clothing and
picking up and putting away toys and books.
- Participate with and supervise children at all times.
- Submit timely reports, timesheets and statistics.
- Assess the children's learning needs through documented observations,
gear the program to the needs of the individual child, consider the
individual child in his/her cultural and socioeconomic background, and
help each child to understand his/her value in the group.
- Provide children with experiences which build self-
esteem, encourage self- reliance, and help each child to
function cooperatively in a group.
- Confer and maintain a positive relationship with parents,
and communicate necessary information in a professional
manner.
- Serve meals and refreshments to children under CACFP regulations.
- Maintain personal cleanliness, including washing hands
after toileting, nose wiping and before preparing and/or

serving lunches and snacks.
- Keep room environment interesting, safe and clean. Report
maintenance and safety concerns to Director or Coordinator,
as needed.
- Perform general housekeeping tasks.
- Maintain high level of job integrity and professionalism while

Education and Experience:

- CDA Certificate
- An Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in

elementary education or the human services field.
- Early Childhood Education (ECE) certification for the

- Highly qualified teacher status, according to Pennsylvania Department of
Education’s standards.

SUMMARY

The Director will be the community champion for the new Crispus Attucks History and Culture Center currently being constructed in York, PA. The Center, which is expected to open during the first half of 2025, will explore, document, and showcase the African American story & impact on York as well as African Americans’ important place in and contributions to our country’s history. Through the vision, voice, creativity, and perspective of African Americans in York County, the Center will educate the public on York’s history of slavery, segregation, civil unrest, social injustice, and activism, to aim toward change and to build a better future. The Center will be a meeting space for the community to gather, build relationships, strengthen bonds, and learn about themselves and each other. The Director will lead staff & volunteers and have overall responsibility to execute mission & policies for the Crispus Attucks History and Culture Center.

Deliverables:

  • Sustainable & measurable community impact

Position Requirements:

Interpreter of stories and histories: What are the key messages, questions and issues that will help make this building the center of the downtown York community and history?
Partner with community: Conducting original research and oral histories, collecting material, reaching out to community resources to help create changing exhibitions.
Activator of ideas: Making the Genealogy Suite a center of community through initiatives,
developing programming with Crisps Attucks York staff, working alongside the Director and staff
to grow the museum/Culture center into a hub by and for the community, supporting grant
writing and funding in initiatives and cultivating relationships alongside the Director.
Partner with other history-oriented centers: to establish a visitor experience that wil attract
tourists to York.

POSITION: Construction Training Assistant
CLASSIFICATION: Paraprofessional

PROGRAM SUMMARY:
The Crispus Attucks Youth Build Charter School’s (CAYBCS) Mission is to provide a challenging and high quality academic and vocational education for the students who have qualified for a high school diploma. The program includes an academic component designed to offer Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Art, Career Development and Special Education to meet the needs of individual students and enable to students to qualify for a high school diploma.

The program’s vocational component centers on developing construction skills by reconstructing abandoned buildings. Finally, a placement program provides each student with pathways to higher education, additional technical training, apprenticeship, full time employment, or a career in the armed services.

PURPOSE:
The Construction Training Assistant is a paraprofessional serving in the support services area. The Construction Training Assistant is to assist the Construction Training Instructor in developing skills in the rehabilitation or construction of properties assigned to the Crispus Attucks Youth Build Charter School for their service site skills program, and to provide support to the worksite environment. The Construction Training Assistant is to provide personal skills that can be used in obtaining gainful employment after graduation.

DUTIES:
• Assist the Construction Training Instructor in the use of construction trades knowledge and skills including demolition, framing, tolls and construction site maintenance, use of appropriate equipment for demonstration, modeling skills, etc.
• Assist the Construction Training Instructor in ensuring use of O.S.H.A. workplace safety regulations and maintain safe environment for youth.
• Keeps Construction Training Instructor and other appropriate staff aware of issued relating to student’s progress, needs, and other information that might impact their ability (or inability) to successfully complete the program.
• Make recommendations to Construction Training Instructor regarding ability to be a crew leader or to pursue an apprenticeship program upon graduation.
• Assist students in their leadership and personal development
• Keeps track of daily attendance and adhere to work scheduling provided by Construction Training Instructor
• Works as a member of the total staff team, including attending all staff meetings and other events relating to the vocational learning process of the youth and the school (including after school cultural and social events)
• Does no teaching or grading of any students

QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Preferably 3 years of overall construction trade experience
• Able to follow basic blueprints
• Understands the issues facing youth and a commitment to them in succeeding in reorienting their lives and building their leadership skills
• Obtain and maintain proper certificates, including lead, CPR and First Aid within 120 days of employment

- To be considered for this position, one of the following educational qualification levels is required:

  • Child Development Associate credential (CDA)
  • Associate’s degree in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field, and 2 years of experience with children
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited college including 30 credit hours in the above fields, and 3 years of experience with children
  • Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college including 30 credit hours in the above fields, and 1 year of experience with children.


- Must have a current PA driver's license.

- Must pass required PA State Police Criminal History Clearance, PA Child Abuse History Certification, FBI fingerprinting, and current NSOR certification.

- Experience working in a NAEYC Accredited Center and/or familiarity with Keystone STARS Program is a plus.

Crispus Attucks York is looking for a qualified Infant and Toddler Teacher who is passionate about the growth and development of young children. Employment benefits will be offered after a successful 90-day orientation. Hourly rate of pay is based on the budget for the year.

The Infant and Toddler Teacher will prepare infants and toddlers ages 3 months - 2 years old for their transition to preschool while easing them into organized educational programming. The teacher will use the Creative Curriculum for infants, toddlers, and two-year-olds using the developmentally appropriate practice on how to offer nurturing daily routines and meaningful experiences that meet children's strengths, interests, and needs.

An Infant and Toddler Teacher must have a great love and patience for young children. Qualifications needed to teach them effectively include knowledge of best practices and infant and toddler educational methods as well as the ability to engage them and earn their trust and attention. The goal is to contribute to the healthy mental and emotional development of the infant and toddlers so they can more easily acclimate in the next level of their educational journey.
