Just the 2nd Year in the CAY Codorous Corridor Summer Enrichment Program (CCSEP) exceeds expectations! The Crispus Attucks York students from the Codorus Corridor program were hosted by the Susquehanna National Heritage Area at the Mifflin Farm site to delve into the site’s planning process. Engaging with engineers and architects leading the master planning, the students were guided through the site by SNHA President Mark Platts and Senior VP of Projects and Planning Jonathan Pinkerton, alongside Murphy & Dittenhafer Architects and Gordon L. Brown and Associates, Inc.

Additionally, they visited the York Water Company and was taken on a Tour with the Filter Plant team members. Another memorable day was spent with the Crispus Attucks York Codorus Creek Summer Enrichment Program participants in collaboration with the Susquehanna National Heritage Area. The group’s enthusiasm and cooperation were commendable as they provided kayaking lessons and an immersive experience on the Susquehanna River. Among discussions on river conservation, wildlife sightings, and a refreshing dip in the river to beat the summer heat, the day was truly enriching. We eagerly anticipate future collaborations with the CCSEP and extend our gratitude to Allison from SNHA for her assistance and captivating photography.

The Codorus Corridor Summer Enrichment Program (CCSEP) is designed to help ensure that future by incorporating project-based and hands-on learning opportunities. The CCSEP is a direct and intentional strategy to engage the community into development activity taking place in the city.

This strategic approach to enhancing learning opportunities for students was the output of the redevelopment committee of the General Authority, Buchart Horn, City of York, Senior Community Service Employment Program, YEA along with members of the York City School District.
