🌟❤️🏆🙌Celebrating Culture and Gratitude: The 41st Annual Cultural Thanksgiving Celebration. On November 25, 2024, a heartwarming event unfolded with the 41st Annual Cultural Thanksgiving Celebration & Rising Stars Award Ceremony. The celebration not only marked a day of gratitude and cultural pride but also showcased extraordinary talent, honored impactful contributions, and brought the community together to give thanks.

The program opened with the Bells of Order and a symbolic Ancestor/Elders Permission Candle Lighting, setting a tone of reverence and connection to tradition. A stirring violin rendition of “Lift Every Voice and Sing” by Sergio Paul followed, stirring the hearts of attendees with its soulful melody.

Kelly Summerford, Living History Interpreter, and Pennsylvania Past Player and Director of the William C. Goodridge Freedom Center & Underground Railroad Museum lent his voice to the event’s rich history through a captivating voiceover, drawing attention to the roots of the celebration. The audience was then immersed in a powerful opening video, setting the stage for a day filled with meaning and unity.

Throughout the event, individuals were recognized for their contributions with award presentations delivered by notable community members.

đź‘Ź Special thanks to Rep. Carol Hill-Evans for honoring Selena Washington with a House of Representatives Citation in recognition of her outstanding commitment to community service for the children of York, PA.
The cultural richness of the program was accentuated by remarkable performances. Joy Cristos captivated the audience with her moving rendition of “Ava Maria,” and Sergio Paul returned to perform “Ribbon in the Sky” on the violin, a breathtaking moment that left the audience in awe.

The event concluded on an inspiring note as Joy Cristos performed “Greatest Love,” leaving everyone reflecting on the power of love, gratitude, and unity. Before departing, attendees joined together for the Blessing of the Food, closing the celebration with warmth and togetherness.

This Cultural Thanksgiving Celebration was a testament to the strength of community, the importance of honoring tradition, and the beauty of recognizing rising stars. It leaves us inspired to continue the journey of cultural appreciation and collective gratitude.
