On Monday, January 20th, 2025, Crispus Attucks York will proudly host our 43rd Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service in York City. This long-standing tradition continues to bring the community together to honor Dr. King’s legacy of equality, service, and social justice through impactful events and meaningful activities. This year’s event, held at 605 South Duke Street, York, PA, is more than just a day of reflection—it’s a call to action. With the theme of “Now is the Time” the day’s activities aim to inspire individuals to make a difference in their communities. What to Expect The MLK Day of Service will kick off with doors opening at 7:30 AM and the program beginning promptly at 8:00 AM. Here’s what’s in store: Honoring Local Heroes The event will also feature the prestigious Michael D. Jefferson “Living the Dream” Awards, recognizing individuals who embody Dr. King’s dream through their work and dedication to the York community. Know someone making a difference? Local leaders and community members will come together to share powerful words that challenge and inspire us to continue the work of creating a more just and equitable society. Traditional Breakfast Nothing brings people together quite like sharing a meal. Attendees will enjoy a traditional breakfast that fosters fellowship and sets the tone for the day of service ahead. Community Service Projects Living Dr. King’s message means rolling up our sleeves and taking action. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on community service projects aimed at improving York City and supporting those in need. These projects provide a chance to connect with neighbors while making a tangible difference in the community. Panel Discussion A thought-provoking panel discussion will feature local leaders and changemakers who will address important topics, including social justice, equality, and the power of community action.
